The Lucas County Youth Assessment Center, located in the Juvenile Court complex, grew out of the Lucas County Executive Team’s commitment to keeping the community safe through evidenced-based screenings and meaningful interventions for each child and family.

In 2023, the Assessment Center screened 570 unique youth, while having 781 events. The Assessment Center continues to divert a majority of youth from secure detention while ensuring appropriate interventions and responses are put in place, keeping community safety as our primary mission.
