On May 19, 2025, Mr. Abbott was transported from McDonald's at 2130 South Reynolds Road in Toledo to the University of Toledo Medical Center. Mr. Abbott lingered in the hospital for several hours and was ultimately declared dead on May 20, 2025, at 1:00 a.m. An autopsy was performed at the Lucas County Coroner’s Office on May 20, 2025. The cause of death is multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death is classified as homicide.
