Employee Benefits/Wellness

The Employee Benefits Department staff is responsible for securing and administering the health, prescription drug, dental, life, flexible spending, and voluntary programs for all Lucas County employees and their families.  In addition, we offer an extensive self-administered Wellness Program.

The Board of Lucas County Commissioners provides a comprehensive benefits package to its employees and dependents at one of the lowest costs of any public employer of its size in the State of Ohio, according to the annual SERB Report.

In 1984, the Board formed the Lucas County Health Care Cost Containment Board (LCHCCCB) in a spirit of labor-management cooperation. Since its inception, the LCHCCCB has been very successful in using the collective bargaining process to implement several employee benefit program amendments that have served to stretch the taxpayer’s money in the purchase of employee health care.
