2021 Toledo Region Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (PDF)


The Lucas County Department of Planning and Development offers services to help employers and job seekers. We work with different organizations like government, non-profits, and businesses to coordinate and keep track of the one-stop system. This system aims to support workforce and economic development. We also have our OhioMeansJobs Center that helps job seekers find the skills they need you can visit  to learn more about our services. 

Our agency collaborates with service providers to assist job seekers in finding good jobs, help employed workers find better opportunities, and aid businesses in finding skilled employees. We serve everyone, from people looking for their first job to those in executive positions. We also cater to both small businesses and large corporations.

The Lucas County Workforce Development Board is a group of leaders from businesses, education, labor, and community organizations. They guide the decisions and activities of our department, ensuring that we meet the needs of our community and workforce.

Community Housing Impact and Preservation (CHIP) Program

The Lucas County Department of Planning and Development works with the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) on home repair and rehabilitation projects.  A grant funded program, the GLCAP Home Repair initiative provides home repair assistance for certain types of extensive repairs.  More information about the CHIP program is available online or you can also use the online form to submit an application.
