Once thought to be chemicals used and
discarded soley by large industries, hazardous materials are found in many
common household products and may pose a threat to human health and the
environment if improperly disposed.
-
Did you know each year individuals improperly dump 240 million gallons of oil,
20 times the amount spilled by the Exxon Valdez in Alaska.
-
Pesticides are designed to last only 2 years in their container, but many
people store them on a shelf for years and years.
The Lucas County Solid Waste Management District provides Lucas County residents
with information and outlets to safely dispose of their household hazardous
waste.
Register
Lucas County provides a program for recycling Household Hazardous Waste. To
recycle your household hazardous waste, residents must contact the Lucas County
Solid Waste Management District to pre-register materials and arrange a time to
drop-off at the District's designated residential collection center or
hazardous waste processor.
When you call you need to provide your name, phone number, city and zip code
along with an inventory of the items and amounts you want to recycle. Once you
have your inventory click here
to schedule an appointment or contact:
