|
November 30, 2006
David Grossman, M.D., Health Commissioner
(419) 213-4018
The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is offering evening flu clinics on the following dates: December 4, 7, 12, 14, 18 and 20, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. These clinics will be held in the lobby of the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department located at 635 North Erie Street. The cost of the vaccination is $20. We will bill Medicare Part B, Medicaid, or Paramount Insurance plans. The flu vaccine is available to all adults and children over the age of 3 years. However, it is especially important for individuals with one or more of the following conditions to receive the flu vaccine:
-
People who are 65 years of age and older.
-
People who have an underlying, long-term illness (heart or lung disease,
metabolic disease [like diabetes], kidney disease, a blood disorder, or a
weakened immune system (including people with HIV/AIDS)).
-
Women who will be pregnant this season.
-
People who live in nursing homes or other chronic-care places.
-
People who are 6 months to 18 years of age, and take aspirin daily.
-
Health-care workers who take care of patients.
-
People who have or take care of a baby under 6 months old.
Multiple individuals receiving the flu vaccination is an excellent opportunity to obtain a degree of community resistance to the flu. If you have questions or concerns please contact the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department’s flu hotline at 419-213-4146.
