2.
Why can't I bring up a Front Structure Photo or Sketch?
AREIS Online utilized Pop-Up technology. You will need to enable Popups for AREIS Online for any and all Popup Blockers installed on your computer.
3.
How can I save the map?
You can right-click on the map, photo, or sketch in the AREIS Online Applicaton Window to save it. You can also save the map by choosing the Print tool and selecting the Map Only option. Once the new browser window appears with the map in it, Right-click on the map and perform a "Save As...".
4.
How do I report a problem with a Structure Sketch or Photo?
There is a link to an email address on the Structure Photo Window which may be used to report any problems (black picture, no picture, dramatic change in appearance).
5.
Why is the AREIS Online window so small (or so big) on my screen?
Try changing your screen resolution. The application is designed for a resoluton of 800x600 (or higher) yeilds the best results. If AREIS looks too small, lower your resolution.
6.
Why doesn't the Previous Map button always work?
The current "Previous Map" button has limited capabilities. It works only after you have ZOOMED or PANNED on the map. It will not work if the last action performed was turning on/off a layer, a search, or if you just left the data pages.
7.
Why does the map I printed not fit on the paper?
When printing the "Map Only" option, you will need to change your settings to print in LANDSCAPE format.
8.
Why can't I read some of the text when I print a map?
When printing a map, if the Aerial Photos are not on, the text is surrounded by small gray boxes. These boxes are used so that you can easily read the text when the aerial photos are on, but unfortunately they make the text hard to read when no photos are on. We are working to resolve this issue.
9.
Why do the fonts in AREIS Online not fit on my screen or look different?
The Text Size may need to be changed. For MS Internet Explorer,
Click the VIEW MENU, hover over TEXT SIZE and choose Medium. For Netscape,
Click the VIEW MENU, hover over TEXT SIZE and choose 100% (original size).
10.
Why does it take so long for the map to change?
The time it takes to draw the map is dependent on general Internet congestion levels as well as some factors under your control. The more layers (lines/shading/text/photos) you have open at a time, the longer it will take to draw. This becomes very apparent if you are zoomed out quite a bit with many layers on, it takes more time to draw all of the detail. Try turning off some of the layers until you are zoomed in to an acceptable level.
11.
Why doesn't the information change when I choose a different entry in the Results window?
Make sure you are actually clicking on a word or number in the results window, not in blank space.
12.
Why don't the Results change when I click on the map?
First, make sure you have the Identify tool selected from the Toolbar. If the Identify Tool is selected and you still receive no results, you have most likely clicked on a Street or Right-Of-Way which are not selectable. Try again and make sure you are clicking within a Parcel boundary.
13.
Why can't I select multiple parcels, create buffer searches, zoom in by drawing a box, or pan by dragging?
Features will be added in the future as better technology becomes available. For more advanced mapping functions, consider purchasing the AREIS DVD.
14.
Can AREIS Online work on Macintosh OS?
Yes. Please use Safari as a browser.
15.
Do I need to use *Wildcards* when I search?
No, AREIS Online automatically adds wildcards to the search. The Search functions will look for the search value anywhere in the field. i.e., If you search for Name = Smith, it will look for Smith anywhere in the name (beginning, middle or end).
